ACT® Test Prep Course - University of Wisconsin LaCrosse
Designed to raise student test scores! This unparalleled ACT® test preparation course readies students for all four sections of the ACT®test, plus the optional writing section. Students take official, retired ACT® pre- and post-tests to determine strengths and weaknesses. Qualified instructors work directly with students to work through this comprehensive preparation program. Preparing for the ACT can increase test scores that are important for gaining acceptance into your college of choice and for expanding your scholarship opportunities.
This course is designed to complement area high schools' preparatory programs.
This program provides 12 hours of instruction in: writing strategies to assist you in the essay part of the ACT® test; orientation to the ACT® and its four parts; opportunity to take diagnostic assessments; instruction in all four areas; test-taking strategies for each of the components and for the entire test; practice with printed materials where test-taking tips can be applied and reinforced and interactive skill drills in deficit areas as measured by the diagnostic test.
Course materials are provided by Cambridge Educational Services, the leader in test preparation. Cost for online or face to face is $185.00.

10th-12th Grades: Learning, Inspiring & Fostering Education (LIFE) The LIFE Program provides academic and professional development courses and activities to help students prepare and explore different careers in education prior to enrolling in college while enhancing their writing skills and abilities.
10th-12th Grades: Arts in the Media (AIM) The AIM Program is designed to attract high school students to consider a major in radio, television and film.
7th Grade: Summer Mathematics and Reading Talent Scholars (SMARTS) The SMARTS Program provides instruction and other activities to help students improve their skills in mathematics and reading, in addition to esteem building and study skills for college success.

8th-12th Grades: Exploring Science, Technology and Engineering Education Majors (ESTEEM) The ESTEEM program will provide hands-on laboratory experiences in a university setting to engage students and increase their interest in the science, technology, math and engineering fields. Students will have access to the same state-of-the-art facilities and equipment UW Oshkosh students and faculty use.
8th-12th Grades: Social Activists for Equality (SAFE) The SAFE program will provide students with in-depth group discussions on current issues that include inequalities and unjust issues in the United States of America, as well as internationally, and will seek to find solutions.
10th-12th Grades: Wisconsin Youth in Nursing (WYN) The WYN Program provides academic and professional development courses and activities to help students prepare for college nursing careers and other health related fields of study by gaining hands-on experience in the state-of-the-art laboratories used by UW Oshkosh nursing students.
10th-12th Grades: Young Entrepreneurial Scholars (YES) The YES program provides academic and professional development courses and activities to help students prepare for business careers in college. Students from the Milwaukee area who have a strong interest in accounting may also apply for the YES Internship.

UW Oshkosh middle school programs offer hands-on activities that will excite and engage your student, provided a supportive and nurturing learning environment. The high school academies offer a positive and impactful educational experience to help prepare them for their future. These programs are presented by the Division of Online and Continuing Education, and are cosponsored by various campus departments and community partners. UW-Platteville: Explore Engineering Summer Program
Session 1: June 17, 2018 through June 22, 2018
Session 2: June 24, 2018 through June 29, 2018
ABOUT THE PROGRAM - Join us on the UW-Platteville campus for one of two week-long sessions that will help you explore the world of engineering through hands-on projects.
WHO CAN ATTEND - This program is for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. You must have passed algebra in order to be eligible to attend. The program is appropriate for both students who have little to no engineering experience and for students who may have had some exposure to engineering courses in high school. Women and students from African-American, Native American, Latina, Laotian, Vietnamese, Hmong, and Cambodian communities are especially encouraged to attend.
PROGRAM COSTS: $795. The program fee includes:
- instruction by university faculty
- all instructional and project materials
- one college credit (upon successful completion of coursework)
- overnight accommodations in a campus residence hall
- breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon
- supervision by trained college student mentors
- social and teambuilding activities
- souvenir t-shirt and bag
Partial scholarships are available based upon academic excellence and financial need. Complete the scholarship application for consideration. The final deadline is May 6, 2018.

Healthcare Careers Camp: July 15 - 18, 2018

Northwest, Northern Highland & North Central Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC)
The Pulse program is designed to support high school and first year college students to explore and find success in pursuing a health profession, with student recruitment primarily from disadvantaged backgrounds (minority students, first generation prospective college students, lower socio-economic status students, and students residing in rural and urban underserved areas in northern and central Wisconsin).
This program is executed through a 4-day residential camp experience. The curriculum focuses on exploring many health careers and developing skills necessary to pursue a health careers training program. Enhanced focus is placed on career decision-making skills, leadership development, financing your education, and understanding healthcare workforce needs across northern and central Wisconsin. This is a health careers preparatory program for students entering Fall 2018 their junior or senior year of high school, or first year of college. As a program completer, students’ will receive a certificate for their participation at camp.
